The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), through its Disaster Management Office (DMO), recently held an internal technical session for staff as part of the Pacific Risk Tool for Resilience Programme Phase 2+ (PaRTneR 2+).
The session provided an opportunity for MNRE technical staff to further familiarize themselves with the risk modelling tools and information products developed under the programme, with a focus on coastal inundation and tropical cyclone exposure forecasting. The staff also explored ways to enhance the application of these tools and dashboards to support informed decision-making, planning, and disaster risk management in Samoa.
The PaRTneR 2+ programme aims to strengthen access to practical, low-cost tools that support risk-informed decision-making across the Pacific, including Samoa.
The session contributes to MNRE’s ongoing efforts to strengthen technical knowledge and the effective use of climate and disaster risk information to support a more resilient Samoa.
The Ministry acknowledges the support and collaboration of the Pacific Community (SPC) and Earth Sciences New Zealand in the implementation of the PaRTneR 2+ programme and the continued development of practical risk information tools for Pacific countries.
