The Waste Management and Pollution Control Division today conducted a refresher training on evidence and its importance in supporting effective enforcement and compliance activities, including the proper collection and documentation of evidence in waste management and pollution cases.
It is important that authorised officers clearly understand their legal responsibilities and follow the correct enforcement procedures—from conducting inspections and gathering evidence to issuing notices and progressing matters where further action is required.
Effective enforcement is not only about issuing penalties. It is also about educating the public on relevant waste management practices and laws, encouraging compliance, and ensuring that every action is fair, consistent, and supported by reliable evidence.
The training strengthened officers’ knowledge and confidence in investigating non-compliance and applying Waste management laws and regulations professionally and consistently.
