Our team worked through mud, tangled roots and tough field conditions to measure trees , assess mangrove biomass and collect samples across Upolu and Savai‘i, helping us better understand how much carbon Samoa’s mangroves can capture and store.
It’s a mangrove tango , but every measurement matters!  Each data point strengthens Samoa’s climate data 📈 ad supports our work under Samoa’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), while highlighting the important role mangroves play in:
  •  Protecting our coasts
  •  Supporting communities
  •  Providing habitats for marine life
  •  Capturing and storing carbon
  •  Building climate resilience
A huge fa’amalo and fa’afetai to the participating communities , SPREP through the Pacific NDC Hub, SPC, the Government of Australia, and all government representatives and field participants who supported this important work.
