SAFATO’A, LEFAGA JOINS SAMOA’S TSUNAMI READY PROGRAMME | JULY 30, 2026

Safato’a, Lefaga has officially joined Samoa’s Tsunami Ready Programme, reinforcing the village’s commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and protecting its people from tsunami risks.

The programme created a valuable platform for village leaders, women, youth, and community members to learn more about tsunami hazards, improve evacuation planning, and discuss practical measures that will enhance community safety and resilience. Their active participation highlighted the importance of working together to ensure everyone is prepared before an emergency occurs.

Implemented by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) through its Disaster Management Office and Meteorological Service Divisions, the initiative is made possible through the support of UNESCO and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This collaborative partnership continues to empower communities across Samoa with the knowledge and tools needed to build resilience against natural hazards.
