The village of Taelefaga has successfully completed activities under Samoa’s Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme (TRRP), joining other coastal communities committed to strengthening disaster preparedness and protecting lives from tsunami hazards. 
Implemented by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), through the Disaster Management Office (DMO) and the Samoa Meteorological Service, the programme encourages communities to take an active role in understanding local tsunami risks and preparing for effective emergency response. 
As part of the programme, community members worked alongside technical officers to assess local tsunami risks, review evacuation arrangements, identify safe assembly areas, and strengthen awareness of tsunami warning systems and response procedures. Official tsunami hazard zone and evacuation route signs were also installed at key locations throughout the village, providing clear guidance to residents and visitors during a tsunami emergency. 
The Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme continues to strengthen collaboration between communities and government agencies, promoting a shared responsibility for disaster risk reduction while supporting villages to achieve internationally recognised Tsunami Ready standards.
