The village of Ulutogia has successfully completed local implementation activities under the Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme (TRRP), marking another important milestone in Samoa’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community resilience to tsunami hazards. 
Community members worked closely with technical officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), through the Disaster Management Office (DMO) and the Samoa Meteorological Service, to enhance local tsunami preparedness and emergency response capacity. 
Activities included community consultations, tsunami risk awareness discussions, identification and validation of evacuation routes, confirmation of safe assembly areas, and a review of local warning dissemination and emergency response procedures. 
These practical exercises help ensure the community is better prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a tsunami.

The programme supports villages in working towards internationally recognised Tsunami Ready indicators while fostering a culture of preparedness, collaboration, and resilience.
