The village of Samamea today became the third community in Samoa to commence local implementation of the Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme (TRRP), following the successful village events held in Saletele and Uafato earlier this week. 
The programme continues its momentum across the Fagaloa district, aiming to strengthen tsunami preparedness through improved community awareness, evacuation planning, warning systems, and emergency response arrangements. 
As part of today’s specific activities, community members, village leaders, and youth worked alongside government representatives to install official tsunami evacuation and hazard zone signs at key locations throughout the village. 
These highly visible signs are designed to clearly mark safe routes to high ground and identify designated safe assembly zones, ensuring both residents and visitors know exactly where to go during an emergency. 
Throughout the day, participants engaged in discussions and practical activities focused on understanding tsunami risks and identifying tailored measures to enhance local preparedness. 
The Ministry and partner agencies acknowledges the strong commitment shown by the people of Samamea as the country continues to support coastal communities in meeting internationally recognized Tsunami Ready indicators and building long-term resilience.
