The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), through its Division of Environment and Conservation, today convened a community consultation with representatives from the District of Safata to support the development of a management plan for invasive species within the districtβs marine protected areas. 
This initiative is supported through the GEF-7 Project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Consultant Afiβa James Atherton and his team engaged with village representatives to discuss practical approaches for preventing, managing, and controlling invasive species that threaten the biodiversity and ecological integrity of the marine protected areas of the District of Safata. 
The consultation also provided an opportunity for participants to share local knowledge and experiences, ensuring the management plan reflects community priorities and sustainable conservation practices.
MNRE extends its sincere appreciation to all representatives from the District of Safata for their active participation and valuable contributions.
