The Ministry through its Forestry Division (FRD) and Division of Environment and Conservation (DEC), in collaboration with the Food Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) conducted an Inception and Project Design Workshop for the Global Environment Facility (GEF) 8 entitled “Advancing integrated participatory spatial planning to enhance Samoa’s globally significant biodiversity at a National Scale.”
🔸The major objective of this project is to strengthen integrated participatory spatial planning within Samoa’s landscapes to enhance globally important biodiversity and ecosystem functionality. This workshop marks a significant step towards enhancing biodiversity conservation in Samoa.
🔹The objectives of the inception and project design workshop are:
⏺ Informing stakeholders on Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBFF) concepts, timeline and requirements for the PPG phase;
⏺ Discuss the objectives, outcomes, outputs and targets of the project with the stakeholders and solicit feedback;
⏺ Identify the stakeholders, partners and beneficiaries of the projects and their roles and participation in the institutional arrangements and;
⏺ Identify ongoing baseline activities, relevant projects, studies, lessons and good practices.
