“The Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change and Resilience Building (PACRES) project implementation continues to Sato’alepai Village”
The implementation is led by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in partnership with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF) and Artificial Reefs Samoa. The community driven undertakings focused on establishing coral nurseries and replanting mangroves, to restore degraded reefs and mangrove habitats. Additionally, to conduct an awareness and educational program to raise village understanding of the significance of coral reefs and mangroves to local livelihoods, and importantly in taking actions to restore these key marine ecosystems.
The implementation series of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) solutions to climate change will continue in three more villages of Savaii.
