
The Ministry through the Disaster Management Office in close collaboration with the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Pacific facilitated a 2-days Sendai Framework Monitor Training. The training supported Samoa in its efforts to track their progress in DRR, enhance resilience building and enhance risk-informed decision making.
Furthermore, it supports Samoa to meet the reporting milestones to contribute to global assessment on DRR trends and to report on SDG’s. Sendai Framework Monitor complementary to disaster loss databases which is a useful tool for countries to track their progress in DRR.
The aim of this training was to ensure that all sectors and stakeholders in Samoa which are involved in the monitoring process are equipped with knowledge and tools to contribute accurately and timely to the Sendai Framework System (SFM) and also to disaster loss and damage collection. The objective were.
– to train participants and report data on Sendai Framework Monitor
– to discuss current and future disaster damage and loss system
– to build a network among ministries to share disaster-related data
