As Samoa continues to strengthen its resilience to climate and disaster risks, efforts have been underway to enhance the availability and use of reliable risk information to support informed decision-making. \"\ud83c\udf0f\"<\/span> The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), through its Disaster Management Office (DMO), convened a national stakeholder scoping workshop on August 11, 2026, at Lava Hotel, Sogi, under the Pacific Risk Tool for Resilience Programme Phase 3 (PaRTneR 3). \"\ud83e\udd1d\"<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The workshop brought together key national stakeholders to identify priorities and sector needs that will help shape the next phase of the programme. \"\ud83c\udf31\"<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Building on the foundational work undertaken through PaRTneR Phases 1 and 2, which established national-scale risk knowledge products and rapid impact assessment tools, Phase 3 seeks to scale these efforts, strengthen national ownership, and expand the reach and application of risk information systems. \"\ud83d\udcca\"<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\udee1\ufe0f\"<\/span>The programme supports Pacific Island Countries in strengthening inclusive and risk-informed decision-making, with a focus on improving understanding of climate and disaster risks and supporting efforts to reduce vulnerability and strengthen resilience. \"\ud83c\udf0a\"<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83c\udf0f\"<\/span>The National Stakeholder Scoping Workshop provided a critical platform for cross-sectoral dialogue and collaboration, bringing together representatives from key agencies working across disaster risk management, climate change, meteorology and related sectors. Through stakeholder discussions and working sessions, participants identified national priorities, sector-specific needs and opportunities to strengthen hazard and risk information systems in Samoa. \"\ud83e\udd1d\"<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\udccb\"<\/span>The workshop formed part of a broader consultation process jointly delivered by the Pacific Community (SPC) and Earth Sciences New Zealand, in collaboration with DMO. The consultations are intended to inform the design of PaRTneR 3 activities and ensure that the next phase of the programme responds to Samoa\u2019s national priorities and institutional needs. \"\ud83c\udf0f\"<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
