The journey towards safer and more resilient coastal communities \"\ud83c\udf0a\"<\/span> continued as the village of Tanumalala \"\ud83c\udfe1\"<\/span> successfully participated in the Tsunami Ready Initiative, through the Disaster Management Office<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> and the Meteorological Service<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>, Divisions under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE). \"\ud83c\udf3f\"<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Bringing preparedness to the forefront \"\ud83e\udd1d\"<\/span>, the programme encouraged active participation from village leaders \"\ud83d\udc65\"<\/span>and families \"\ud83d\udc68\u200d\ud83d\udc69\u200d\ud83d\udc67\u200d\ud83d\udc66\"<\/span> through awareness sessions \"\ud83d\udce2\"<\/span>, discussions on tsunami hazards \"\ud83c\udf0a\"<\/span>, and the review of community evacuation arrangements \"\ud83d\uddfa\ufe0f\"<\/span>. These activities helped strengthen the community’s understanding of how to recognise tsunami threats, respond appropriately to official warnings \"\ud83d\udea8\"<\/span>, and move safely to designated evacuation areas \"\ud83c\udfc3\u200d\u2640\ufe0f\"<\/span>\"\ud83c\udfc3\u200d\u2642\ufe0f\"<\/span>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Tsunami Ready Initiative \"\ud83c\udf0f\"<\/span> is designed to help communities build practical disaster preparedness measures that can save lives. By strengthening local knowledge \"\ud83d\udca1\"<\/span>, encouraging community ownership \"\ud83e\udd1d\"<\/span>, and improving readiness for future tsunami events, the programme continues to support Samoa’s vision of resilient and well-prepared villages. \"\ud83d\udc99\"<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Ministry extends its heartfelt appreciation \"\ud83d\ude4f\"<\/span> to the people of Tanumalala for their positive engagement and commitment throughout the programme.
