\"\u26a1\ufe0f\"<\/span>\"\ud83d\udd0c\"<\/span>A successful Inception Workshop was held today at SPREP, bringing together stakeholders from government, development partners and the private sector for the Technical Assessment and Development of a User Pay System for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\udc65\"<\/span>\"\ud83d\udc65\"<\/span>Officiated on behalf of the Honourable Minister and MNRE CEO, this workshop marked the formal commencement of the consultancy with Bytewatchers Samoa and Telecommunications Regulatory & Business Solutions Consulting. It provided an important platform to align on the project scope, methodology and workplan while reinforcing collaboration across sectors.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\udc65\"<\/span>\"\ud83d\udc65\"<\/span>Discussions highlighted the need for a sustainable user-pay system, strengthened operational planning and building local capacity to support the long-term management and expansion of EV infrastructure in Samoa. Samoa have already taken a significant step by establishing an electric charging station here in Samoa, currently located at the Friendship Park, Apia. However, the current system does not yet provide a sustainable model for cost recovery, monitoring or long-term expansion.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\u26a1\ufe0f\"<\/span>\"\ud83d\udd0c\"<\/span>This initiative aims to conduct a comprehensive technical assessment, develop a user-pay system, design a viable business model and ensure that the infrastructure we have in place can operate sustainably into the future.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\ude4c\"<\/span>The workshop concluded with a group activity amongst all the participants who were present from various government Ministries such as Ministry of Commerce Industry & Labour<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>, Samoa Public Service Commission<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>, Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Office Of The Regulator – Samoa<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>, Ministry of Finance,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> Electric Power Corporation, Samoa<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>, Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa, Ministry of Customs<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>, representatives from MNRE and more.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
