The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) convened a validation workshop on the Gap Assessment of Samoa\u2019s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Investment Plan and the development of corresponding project documents. Held at the Taumeasina Island Resort, the workshop brought together key national stakeholders, technical experts, and development partners with the objective of validating priority climate initiatives and ensuring their alignment with Samoa\u2019s national climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\udca1\"<\/span>On behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of the MNRE, Assistant Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) Vainalepa Toiata Uili expressed sincere appreciation for the collective efforts and continued support of government representatives, partners, and climate practitioners. This workshop marks the culmination of a three-part series that has reviewed, refined, and identified high-priority climate adaptation and mitigation projects aligned with Samoa\u2019s NDC targets under the Paris Agreement.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\udca1\"<\/span>Samoa\u2019s NDC underlines the nation\u2019s enduring commitment to low-carbon development, resilience building, and sustainable progress. These priorities are captured in national policy instruments and sectoral plans that provide the framework for action.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\udca1\"<\/span>Since the initial inception workshop in December 2024, and through extensive consultations with communities and sector partners in May 2025, seven project concepts have been developed. These projects reflect Samoa\u2019s highest-impact climate needs, shaped by national priorities and inclusive dialogue with key stakeholders.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\udca1\"<\/span>Vainalepa also highlighted that this work also feeds into the formulation of Samoa\u2019s Third NDC, providing a robust foundation for implementation and resource mobilisation. The project documents validated today span key sectors\u2014energy, waste, AFOLU (agriculture, forestry and other land use), marine, and water. Stakeholders were invited to provide focused feedback to ensure the proposals are precise, actionable, and ready for investment.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\ud83d\udca1\"<\/span>With strong collaboration and technical expertise, Samoa continues to demonstrate leadership in climate resilience and sustainable development.
