Brief Overview

This workshop is kindly hosted by the Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System

(PacIOOS) and co-organized by PacIOOS, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), and National Canter of Ocean Standards and Metrology of Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR)

Workshop Focus and Purpose

The workshop is to continue targeting the application of ocean observing data for enhanced predictive capability, learning practical implementation aspects of ocean observing systems and enhancing the capacity of quality control

Objectives/aims

The aim of the workshop is to promote the coordination and cooperation between countries and international organizations concerning the development of ocean observation and natural disaster mitigation throughout the Pacific Islands region.

Expected Outcomes

It is expected to identify current gaps and needs for ocean observing systems in Pacific Islands, raise awareness of available data products and data producers in the region, and demonstrate the value.

Way Forward

It will present the potential opportunity to establish the ocean observation systems through discussions and hands-on activities.
