The Legal Services Division provides legal advice to the whole of the Ministry to support the sustainable development of natural resources and the environment. This includes advice on legislation and regulations, contracts, MOUs, policies and enforcement activities. The Legal Services Division is also responsible for advising on applications for alienation of customary and freehold land, and leases of customary and government land. The mandate of the Legal Services Division includes strengthening the legal framework for Ministry activities with the outcome of better environmental protection, and ensuring increased public awareness of environmental laws.
