7th Annual Review of the Environment Sector

Close to 100 stakeholders from government agencies, civil society groups, and key regional and international development partners of the sector took part in the 7th Annual Review of the Environment Sector held on Wednesday 18th November 2020 at the Taumeasina Resort.

Participants from government agencies included representatives from MOF, PSC, MFAT, MPMC, MWCSD, MWTI, MESC, MCIL, EPC, SWA, SROS, STA, SBS, SLC, SQA, and MNRE as the lead implementing agency for the sector.   Representing civil society groups in the environment sector were participants from the Civil Society Support Programme (CSSP), Vaoala Youth Group, Faleaseela Environment Protection Society (FEPS), and Samoa Conservation Society (SCS).   Key development partners of the Sector in attendance were Conservation International, GEF Small Grants Programme, SPREP, UNDP, and UNEP.

The Review program included presentations from key implementing focal points and partners on progress achieved in the financial period 2019/20 against the Monitoring and Evaluation Framework of the National Environment Sector Plan (NESP) 2017 – 2021.   Key challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations on way forward were also identified and discussed.   Exhibition booths for sector projects were also on display to promote key projects currently under implementation.   The Sector’s 7th Annual Review was made possible with the financial assistance of SPREP through its INFORM Project.
